Is there a minimum and maximum volume?
Yes, we have a minimum volume of 1m3. There is a maximum volume in the online pricing tool and that is 20m3. You will notice that the system gives you an error when adding more items when you have reached the maximum volume. However, you can still ship more than 20m3, it just requires a tailormade quote. Please contact sales@transpack.nl.
Why must the wardrobes be disassembled?
Besides the crew being able to carry the furniture safely, it is also more prune to damage and breakage. When the items are in the container, they are loaded tight as to prevent sliding in the container. However, we cannot prevent bumping, shaking, etc. The container is subject to a lot of movements in port and on the ocean.
Am I allowed to fill the closets and wardrobes?
No, this is not allowed by customs and also increases the risk of damages. The only thing we can make an exception for are pillows. However, please take into account that goods inside furniture are not covered by insurance due to the extra risk of damages. So, please prevent doing that, or keep it at pillows and similar items only.
What should I do if I want to move an item that is not mentioned in the list?
No problem. We could not mention every piece of furniture on that list, so we created the field with the big ‘’+’’. You can fill in the name of the item yourself and also fill in the dimensions of that item. In case you are still cautious if you are filling in the correct thing, give us a call and we will guide you through it.
Underneath the TV it says ‘’*65 inches’’, why?
TV’s are getting bigger and bigger. We consider 65 inch to be the maximum dimension or a normal TV and does not require extra handling. If you are moving a bigger tv, you may need a custom made crate as damage risks increase the bigger they get.
Am I allowed to ship a piano or a safe?
Yes, however, please know that items that are very heavy, big or valuable may require additional handling and therefore costs. A safe cannot be carried easily, so requires more manpower or special equipment. Please let us know in advance if you intend to move these kinds of items!
Also please note that a locked safe is not allowed to ship. In case customs decides to inspect the container, they must be able to open the safe. If it is locked you will get a fine and risk the chance of customs taking ownership of the item and destroy it.
What goods are prohibited to ship?
Every destination country has its own rules, so please check online or with a Transpack representative when you are not sure. Of course, there are some general rules applicable for each country, you are not allowed to ship drugs, weapons and explosives. Most countries also do not accept food items and liquids.
But for some countries there are additional rules, a good example is Thailand where any Buddha item – portrayed, statue, etc. – is not allowed!
Please check the regulations carefully!
What happens if the volume is different than estimated?
It happens that after packing the volume is more or less then what was booked. We understand that calculating volume can be tricky due to different sizes of items, a few last minute changes, etc. We charge costs based on the actual volume. So, if it turns out you are moving 2m3 more than anticipated, you will receive an additional invoice. If volume is less, you will receive a credit invoice. Please mind that the origin service and part of the freight charges cannot be credited. The crew and container space had already been reserved, and those costs have been made.
Why is the volume only mentioned in round numbers, no decimals?
Our moving services are charged per cubic meter. If you are moving, for example, 7.5m3, this will automatically be calculated as 8m3.
